Our commitments to environmental and ethical responsibility
At Eva Bachsen, where our designs aim to bring you a touch of the magic and wonder that nature offers us, it seems obvious to us that the jewellery we wear should be produced in harmony with these values.
That is why we have chosen to work with a family-run jewellery workshop in France, which is a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).
Adhering to the RJC’s principles means committing to responsible practices in terms of ethics and respect for the environment, whether in the gold supply chain or in the sourcing of diamonds.
The 18-carat gold used in Eva Bachsen jewellery is therefore traceable and responsibly sourced.
The same ethical concerns led us to decide to use synthetic (or so-called ‘lab-grown’) diamonds, which have the same properties without the environmental and ethical impact of natural diamonds. Despite the unavoidable emissions associated with the production of lab-grown diamonds, they guarantee that the human rights abuses associated with diamond mining—such as child labour and dangerous, degrading working conditions—are avoided.
Lab-grown diamonds not only have the same composition and hardness as natural diamonds, but also possess an exceptional quality and brilliance that is only seen in the rarest diamonds found in nature.
When it comes to coloured gemstones, our love of beautiful natural stones must be balanced against the need to keep our environmental impact to a minimum. That is why, beyond the obvious appeal of its warm yet edgy colour, we have opted for smoky quartz. Indeed, quartz, with its diverse shapes and hues and its widespread occurrence, is one of the most readily available gemstones. Its adaptability to various geological environments and its abundance make quartz a true link between the nature that surrounds us and the extraordinary world of jewellery.
What is the quality of the gold used in Eva Bachsen’s creations?
Eva Bachsen uses only 18-carat gold (or 750 parts per thousand). Composed of 75% pure gold, the alloy is in its optimal proportion to ensure maximum strength and durability.
Our 18k white gold jewellery (on request) is the result of an alloy with palladium, a metal that ensures a soft, radiant colour and excellent resistance to oxidation.
Sustainable and local production
In line with our previous and environmental commitments, Eva Bachsen produces mainly to order in order to avoid overproduction, overstocking and unsold items.
Everything is made in France, using traditional craftsmanship and ‘CoC’ (Chain of Custody) gold granules, meaning it is fully traceable.
Customisation options – chain length, special requests
When placing your order, you can add a comment if, for example, you would like to add an adjustment ring to a necklace or bracelet. As we make our jewellery to order, we can offer this flexibility provided the request for a size adjustment is specified at the time of purchase, before production begins.
However, if the request for a modification is made after the order has been received, extending a piece of jewellery will be subject to a quote from our workshop.
